Feature Friday, Featuring Cathleen Heath Photography!

Happy Friday all! Excuse this late night blog post (usually I have them done the night before) but my husband is out of country and I haven't had as much time to get blogging done as I normally would! Now, back to my fabulous feature this week!

Cathleen Heath Photography is located in Waunakee Wisconsin and let me tell you, this girl has talent! I just spent the last 20 minutes admiring the work on her website...I adore her style! She is really fun and natural. Cate specializes in children, couples, seniors, and (I love this one) pets! I envy those that have the opportunity to capture animals, horses in particular! And she has some amazing shots on her website.

Cate had this to say about her photography, "I love capturing moments that my clients will cherish and showcase their lives at that time. I'm constantly learning and trying to improve my photography and business."

Thanks so much Cate!! Please check out Cathleen Heath Photography at www.cathleenheath.com or www.facebook.com/CathleenHeathPhotography!

I hope that you all have a great weekend- it sounds like we MAY get some sunshine here in Washington! Whoo hoo! Until next week,

Feature Friday, Featuring Lorelei Taylor Photography | AHP Blog | Lacey/Olympia Photographer

This week I am UBER excited to feature Lorelei Taylor Photography, located in the Washington D.C./Northern Virginia area. She is a mentor of mine as she has been ridiculously helpful anytime I had a question, so I wanted to take a minute to say THANK YOU as well! Now onto Lorelei's gorgeous work...

She specializes in newborns, children and family portraiture. Her goal is to be a family historian of sorts- to create beautiful pieces of art to hang on the wall for generations! I LOVE that!!!
Lorelei was kind enough to go a bit more into depth about her business, her passion, and he inspiration:

"Growing up my mother always had a camera in her hand.  Living in a scenic vineyard town on the edge of vast Lake Erie there were so many opportunities to capture beauty.  She photographed anything and anyone that would let her. (See diptych photo below for an example of a photo my mom - Mary Gollihugh - took of me combined with a photo I took of my daughter, Peyton both at age 7.)  I already knew I had a soft spot for photography but when my mother passed away suddenly 5 years ago I found photography as a great coping mechanism; bringing me closer to her in times I needed her the most.  Photography for me is far beyond hobby or career. It's deep-seated in my soul.  It's a visual heart beat."

"Children are only little for a moment.  This fleeting moment is so often overlooked.  We push our babies to sit up, crawl and soon walk.  Before we know it they are walking out the door to college.  But a photo lasts forever.  These visual time capsules are a way to make every fleeting moment count.  When a new mother is brought to tears seeing the sweetness and innocence of her beautiful baby it is priceless.  So cover your walls, fill your photo albums and rejoice in the small little beings we brought to life.  You won't regret it for a moment."

If you are in the D.C. area, you definitely want to give this girl a call and book a session. Not only is she amazingly talented but her passion shows in each and every photograph she produces.

Feature Friday, Featuring HCS Photography | Angie Hollenbeck Photography | Lacey WA Photographer

I'm so excited to share this weeks Feature Friday, HCS Photography! HCS Photography is located in Hattiesburg, MS and specializes in newborn, child, and family lifestyle photography that radiate warmth and happiness! Heather Stockett, owner of HCS shared this with me:
"Some of my favorite sessions are with sweet little newborns. Getting to snuggle with them in those first weeks of life is just so special. I also love photographing children! They are so much fun to be around no matter what age. I really enjoy watching their little personalities unfold during our session, and each one is always different. Those sweet little smiles, serious eyes and even the frowns are the reasons I cherish photographing children.
I am a mother of 3 boys, Jackson (4) and twins, Anderson and Benson (1). I could never be where I am without my amazing husband, Adam. And I give glory to God for my talent. I draw inspiration from my 3 loving, crazy, silly, hilarious, and sometimes cranky boys. Seeing them interact and grow not only tugs at my heartstrings as a parent, but it also allows me to grow as a photographer. When I'm not photographing people, I love photographing fences.
I am Hattiesburg's only NAPCP's photographer and a member of PPA. I'm also an affiliate photographer for the Tiny Sparrow Foundation which donates the photography services to the families of children with life threatening illnesses."

Definitely check out this girl's amazing talent!!  She is a master of light and my newest inspiration!  :)  Thanks for allowing me to feature you Heather!

Feature Friday, Featuring Karrie Drake Photography!

This week I am featuring the wonderful Karrie Drake Photography out of Colerain Beach, North Carolina!
Karrie tends to pose her clients and capture them in the in-between time. Classic black & white and clean color is how she explains her style. She loves to photograph engagement sessions and family sessions. She does some amazing work and her style is so fresh and clean...I love it! Please be sure to check out Karrie's work or contact her if you are in NC!
Contact Information: karriedrake@yahoo.com
I asked Karrie to tell me a bit more about her lovely work! This is her reply:

"When I meet a couple or a family I genuinely want to know about them. I'll send out an email before their session to thank them for choosing KDP and I attach a little questionnaire so that I have a "heads up" the day of our session. It's always handy to have conversation starters and to be able to relate to my clients. It's SUPER important to me to know what their interests are.  I will refer to some of the things from the questionnaire and it's amazing some of the stories that are shared. I'm definitely a people person and want my clients to know that I care about them, not just because they've chosen me to photograph a moment in time for them. Photographing people is such a blessing to me. I absolutely love it!"

Amazing work Karrie! Thanks for allowing me to feature your fab business!

Feature Friday, Featuring Wensleydale Farms

This weeks featured business is one that is unique to the blog thus far! Wensleydale Farms is located in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin and specializes in all things Alpaca!

While new on the market they co-own a multi-time color-champion stud and have top of the line yarn and products for sale. The owners greatly enjoy their animals and that enjoyment is evident in the ease with which the alpaca, horses, cats, chickens and dogs co-exist on the farm.

Also, they're having their first open farm Saturday, July 21st! In addition to being able to meet the animals and visit the farm store there will be a number of other vendors present!
So stop on by the website or facebook page and pick up a little something! Be it yarn or a nesting ball, you'll be sure to love it!

Feature Friday, Featuring Nikki Sue Photography!

This week, I am featuring Nikki Sue Photography located in San Antonio, Texas! Nikki Sue Photography specializes in children and seniors and she does some stellar work!

I asked her to tell me a bit more about her lovely business and this was her reply:
"While I specialize in both children and seniors, I have to say that senior girls are my most favorite sessions to date! Children are fun and energetic and full of life, but you don't always get to get that gorgeous sunset shot or the attention span you were wishing for like you can with seniors!  Senior girls love the camera.  They love to feel beautiful and want to look like the gorgeous models in the magazine!  They have a "free spirit" sense about them once they open up to the camera. Often times, they are open to themed sessions and other artistic ideas as well, which is always a real treat for me!"

I can relate Nikeya! I have recently discovered the magic of working with young ladies!

Feature Friday, Featuring Austin Avenue Cakes

This Friday's feature is especially SWEET (yes I had to do it) for me because this lovely lady- Tiffany Austin, owner of Austin Avenue Cakes- is a beautiful client of mine! Austin Avenue Cakes is a fantastic home-based cake business (serving Pierce and surrounding counties) and this girl has some talent! I asked Tiffany a few questions about her business:

What is your favorite part of your business?

My favorite part of being a cake decorator is being a part of so many special days. I have been a part of weddings, birthdays, and baby showers. There is always so much love in the air when I deliver cakes. In a world where there is so much unhappiness it is so good to be surrounded by that feeling.

How did you get into it?

It started something to get my mind off of my husbands deployment. He went to Iraq in 2004 and I was so bored and lonely. I saw cake decorating classes at the local craft store by my job and reworked my schedule so every Tuesday night I could be there.  I absolutely loved it. It turned into a business a couple years later when I got asked to do a wedding cake, and has continued from there!

What do you specialize in?
I love doing a little bit of everything but I especially love doing wedding cakes. Since we have not opened a location yet it is hard to find brides that want to go with a home baker. When I do get the chance to do them I relish in the moment, knowing that on their special day I can provide such an integral part. Kids cakes have to be the most fun though. Seeing their faces when their cake arrives is priceless!

Any thing specific you'd like to share (I.e. specials, stories, facts, etc)?

I guess it would be that baking is an art form, No matter where you are getting a cake from that person is putting a little piece of themselves into your cake. I am happy when I see anyone smile. That is enough for me! As soon as the Army is done relocating us we plan to settle in TX and open a bakery and share our love of sweet with as many as we can.

Feature Friday, Featuring Amy Evans Photography

This week I am featuring Amy Evans Photography, based out of Chico California! Amy specializes in on-location child and family portraiture. I snooped around on her website and found some truly fabulous photos! Her love for kids is evident in each and every child portrait.

When asking Amy to tell me a bit about her business, this is how she replied:

"I love capturing the relationships of families and creating works of art for them to keep forever. Children fascinate me with their own unique personalities. I feel like I could follow a little child around and take photos of what they love to do all day. I especially love working with tweens, it's a neat age where they change so quickly from childhood to adolescence. I have an interest in photographing children and adults with disabilities. It's something I hope to work with more in the coming years. I strive to keep my images fresh and neat, and love to provide my clients with exceptional quality and service."

I think that wraps it up wonderfully! If you or someone you know is in the Chico, CA area please contact Amy to schedule your session!
